why is it that when i run a power inverter to charge the laptop, i cannot scan the truck, the scanner wont connect at all, i unconnect the power to the laptop, then restart the scanner and it works.

not a clue...maybe the inverter is sucking too much power? I havent ran an inverter in a while...actually since I got my mpvi pro since I don't need a laptop. If I get a chance tonight I'll see if I can recreate it though :shrug:

What power inverter are you using? I am using a Black&Decker unit found at Home Depot. It works great and I have no ever had a problem with scanning, while attached. Could be an isolated case, as Bill suggested.
Got mine at Fry's Electronics (In George's neck of the woods :D)

my battery was real good on the laptop, 3 hour charge, lasted quite a long time back when i first bought hptuners in 04, but now the battery is crap, thought this would work.
