6r80 differences and PCM logic

Hello, I'm somewhat new to tuning, and am working on that. I wanted to see if anyone could help me clarify a few things since I am planning a project. The 09-10 6r80 i am to understand is different than the 11+ models, mainly due to the lead frame having a TCM of some kind built into it. Is this the only difference? I ask because I have heard adding things like select shift to the 09-10 isn't possible. However, I have a 2010 f150, and a spare drivetrain with PCM for a 2014 (both are raptor 6.2). Both PCM's are copperhead 2048 units, so I'm thinking they are the same but just have different OS's? What I'm getting at is, if I use a 14 lead frame, put it in my 2010, re-pin the trans and PCM connectors to match 2014 wiring, then either write entire over the 2010 PCM with the OS from the 2014 (I own licenses for both), would I then be able to add paddle shifters and use select shift?

The key difference between the 2009-2010 and 2011+ 6R80 transmissions is the integration of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) into the lead frame starting in 2011. In the 2009-2010 models, the transmission is controlled more traditionally without a TCM inside the transmission itself, limiting certain functionalities. With the 2011+ models, the TCM being built into the lead frame allows for more advanced features, such as SelectShift, which gives the driver manual control over gear selection via paddle shifters or a select shift lever.
Now, since both your 2010 and 2014 Raptors use Copperhead 2048 PCMs, the hardware between the two is quite similar. However, the key difference lies in the software or operating system (OS) used by each PCM. The 2014 PCM, paired with the 2011+ transmission, has an OS designed to communicate with the integrated TCM, enabling additional control functions like SelectShift. On the other hand, your 2010 PCM lacks this OS, and therefore, doesn’t have support for those features by default.
If you want to add SelectShift to your 2010 F150 using parts from your 2014 drivetrain, it would require a bit of work. By installing the 2014 lead frame with the built-in TCM into your 2010 transmission, you could enable those advanced features. However, this would also require re-pinning the transmission and PCM connectors to match the 2014 wiring setup. Once that's done, you would need to write the entire OS from the 2014 PCM onto the 2010 PCM using HP Tuners. Since you already have licenses for both vehicles, you should be able to perform this step without needing additional credits.
In theory, after the wiring and software modifications, the 2010 PCM would be able to communicate with the 2014 lead frame and TCM, allowing you to use paddle shifters or SelectShift. However, this isn't a straightforward process and would require careful attention to the wiring diagrams for both years, as well as fine-tuning to ensure everything works seamlessly together. There's also the possibility that some aspects of the 2014 transmission’s control may not fully function due to the older hardware in the 2010 vehicle, but the swap should theoretically allow you to get the majority of the new features working.

Thanks for confirming my assumptions. Unless there is more I dont know about, it seems that I should have no trouble in doing this. I have prodemand licenses for both years, and have printed out the connector end views and wiring diagrams for both models trans and PCM connections. I may go ahead and try this and see what happens. Theoretically, if it causes some kind of no start condition, or things dont act right, I should still be able to revert back to base OE and re-write entire with the stock 2010 file and everything be back to normal right?
