Got a 2018 Silverado Gas 5.3 I cant read the Ecm liked its locked. Have MPVI Pro 4.10.7. Reads my 17 no problem what needs to be done. It is all stock. Do I need to update it? Really dont want to update it for fear of it not working afterwards.

I think you're going to need an MPVI2 or 3.
What I dont get why my 2017 it reads it just fine and the 18 it wont. They both have E92a controllers. The 17 is an 8 speed and the 18 a 6 speed.Quote:

All the factory tunes are technically locked. GM re-uses the same seed and key a lot, but eventually they change them. The ECM (E92A) itself doesn't matter. Looks like they changed the seed and key between 2017 and 2018. HPT cracks the ECMs and saves the list of seed and key combos. Your seed cannot be found. Time to upgrade.Quote:
