Like to know if this is possible
I'm working on a project and am considering using an LF4 out of a Cadillac. If I go this way I'm thinking about lowering the compression and boosting the turbo in order to reach between 600 and 650HP while retaining the use of 91 octane.
Since this is a direct injection engine and I'm looking at adding HP, it will need more fuel. I know it's possible to boost fuel output on direct injection by changing the HPFP lobes on the cams. Instead of this, I'd like to install a set of small port injectors and have them meter a set amount of fuel at all times, like perhaps 25 percent of the engine's needed fuel. The big advantage to this method would be keeping carbon off the valves. The increase in power is approximately 30 percent.
Assuming port injectors can be physically added, can the ECM be programmed to handle the extra, set amount of fuel being pushed in and keep the fuel air mix correct? The port injectors would be pumping a defined amount of fuel at all times, eliminating a variable.
