2022 Mustang GT supercharged VCT Schedule mode disabled

Hey all,

Working on a 2022 5.0 GT with a roush supercharger. Started with the roush tune. I have figured my way around it pretty good except for 1 thing.

For some reason it shows VCT Schedule Mode "disabled" all the time. This is different from whipple or stock tunes I have worked on before. Is there a way to get it to change properly? It seems to work fine and drive around fine this way. However, I would like to be able to use OP tables for VCT scheduling at WOT.

Weirdly, even with it saying disabled it seems to follow the optimum cam tables except intake is limited to -20deg. There is a spot this can be changed while in optimum power (table 29570) but it doesn't seem to work. Possibly because its not actually in optimum power?

I see two issues.

For the VCT schedule it's not actually disabled. When VCT schedule goes to disabled, it sends both cams to home/neutral lock/0% duty cycle. Yours didn't do that. It's using the appropriate mapped point at the appropriate time, which means the cams are doing what they are supposed to. I suspect there's something wrong with that logging PID data or update rate.

For OP, your cam timing is all messed up. It looks like you're trying to use typical gen2 numbers in a gen3. In gen3, -20 is fully advanced. You'd typically want to run -20 in the lower mid-range and then retard to 0+/-5 up top. Roush set up mapped points 5 and 6 to run OP in with a snap-line between them. That means to continue using MP5 and 6 at WOT as designed, you'd need to run 15 for the exhaust cam in OP mode. Not that you can't run different, but you get into blending mapped points that may or may not have been properly calibrated by Roush at WOT.

Yes you are right. I see now that I have been thinking about it backwards for the intake cam. I will fix that as you suggest.

gen 2 and gen 3 Mustang VCT timing is identical, gen 2 and gen 3 IN VCT actuator is identical so -20 is max physical max for both

Right, I was thinking gen1/4 but typed gen2.

Yeah, we know what you meant... Almost every Ford has gen 1 style cam angles. Ecoboost, raptor, etc etc etc.

I'm mainly talking about the Ford cars that usually get tuned. In the tuning industry. EcoBoost, raptor etc. etc. Not talking about a Ford Edge or such. But yes, you're right, the sky is also Blue!
