TPS error - P0122 (DBW?)

Hi guys, Swapped an LQ9 (that i dropped LQ4 pistons in) and a 4L80E into an old 88 G20 and I can get the engine to fire briefly, but immediately shuts off. I'm very new to this, and have little to no experience with HPTuners but I think I've narrowed down my problem:

The ECU appears to be a P59 from a Chevy express 3500 from 04.Great stuff, I got an ECU with 4L80E already. My problem is that I'm running a DBW setup and I think in my haste may have accidentally gotten an ECU without DBW capabilities. I found a lot of threads for going the other way, but very few on how to convert it to run DBW.

I believe the cal file on this ECU is 12586243, but it's currently throwing a code for P0122 TPS sensor low voltage. Looking up this error appears to show that the computer is likely looking for the sensor voltage from a TPS on the throttle body? I've tested the pinout from the TAC module to the throttle body and everything *looks* to be correct, but the TPS shows 0% no matter what I do. I got a TAC module from an 04 Escalade with the corresponding pedal. Not sure what issue I should be tracing down, but I believe this ECU might not have the OS to run the DBW?

I fully admit to likely being in way over my head, but we're giving it a shot!

Do you have HPT? Post a log and tune. Without that, it's all speculation.

Oh! Yes, thats an even better idea. I believe this is the tune file. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a proper log file.

*Should note that is miraculously idled the one time I was trying to log it, but since then I've had absolutely no luck getting it to run.

Update to this thread. I went in and changed the ECT setting in the ECU "systems" tab from 0 to 1. It seems as though I'm getting some sort of throttle input now, and the engine can stay running for very short spurts of time, but it's unclear what I've got wrong here. Here are the latest log files.. Along with the latest tune that I've got.

Lots of differences in the calibration for a DBW vs DBC besides the system setting. Especially in the idle tab. And remember you are not seeing everything in the calibration other than what HPT has defined. You would be better off doing some segment swapping from a vehicle that came with DBW.

Beautiful. Okay that does make sense. I had found a stock 6.0 tube from an 04 Escalade and thought that might be a decent idea, but was sure how segment swapping works. My fear was that I?d brick the ECU by segment swapping the engine and engine diag if it was a different OS or something. I guess I don?t exactly know how to tell or what tune to really pick.

I also think I did figure out that there?s something wrong with my fuel supply as my test gauge only shows about 15psi at the rail, so I think this is the reason it won?t idle. Of stay running.

The main OS have to be the same between the 2 files to segment swap.

Okay, so out of curiosity, how do I ensure that the two OS?s are the same? Compare the files and then is there a specific OS I?m looking for?

Edit>Calibration Details>Controllers. Look at the OS numbers.

I wouldn't segment swap this. but rather start over with a OS with what you need from the start.

Your os is great!!!! It?s a 7603

What injectors do you have installed?
Are you running a return style fuel system?

What?s the engine out of?

And you're aware that just because two files have the same main OS ID number that doesn't mean they are the same and built for the same hardware? Right?

I'm learning, but I don't understand what you're saying. Can you explain? He is running a p59, all p59s are dbw setup. So if he is using dbw, he just needs a 6.0 dbw segment swap right?

I was helping him get his vehicle going by modifying his current file. I just needed to know what injector he was using and if he was return or return less. His current file appears have 21lb return style partial injector data in it. I?m learning, he is learning. Maybe we will get it going?

You wouldn't because you probably have all the model year licenses. I doubt he does so a segment swap will save him from spending credits for another license.

If your pcm IS drive-by-wire, my '07 Van pcm HAD to have an '07 Van TAC module AND an '07 Van pedal. Rock Auto seems to think the '04 is DBW, they list TAC connectors....

The van pedal guts CAN be swapped into a truck pedal.

OP's 04 pedal and tac module is fine for his swap. He has a 04 pcm which works any 03-06 dbw throttle body.

Just to be clear, NO, not all p59 computers were DBW. Several are cable throttle computers.

Okay, I did misspeak. All p59s CAN be drive by wire.
Some p59s can be drive by cable.

Correct, however it is possible to add the IAC driver to a "dbw only" p59, but that is a whole different topic.

as far as I know all of them CAN be DBW though.
