How to spot a DBC file 100 percent

First post, please go easy on me.

So I am very new to hptuners, but I am learning quick. I have to say the tune repository is a great addition to help learn. My question is, on a 03-06 file, how can I know for certain the file is DBC vs DBW. They look very similar to me in the software.

Also were ALL the 03-06 p59 express vans DBC?
I only see one Chevy Express file in the repository that's listed as DBC


I will give two examples since that seems to be the going thing recently.

open up one of your posted files, and then open the second one using the 'compare' feature

go to the SYSTEM--->GENERAL----->SYSTEM----->SYSTEM OPTIONS
then look at the ETC (electronic throttle control) section... if there is a 1 then its DBW if there is 0 then its DBC

you can see the difference in your files using compare

There were drive by wire gas GM Vans starting in 2001. The diesels were DBW in 96. The 2003+ Gen III powered vans were DBW if they had the Stabilitrak option. My 97 Express van with a 24x DBW 383 SBC has the DBW pedal and TAC module out of a 2002 Express controlling a Hitachi ETB0024 GenIV 87mm throttle body on it. It is all being run by a 2005 P59 6.0L Silverado based tune.

Thanks I just checked the system options and I see the differences. You sir are a teacher!

So since these two files are both 618 os. I am currently using the Lm7 DBW file and I want to convert to DBC. Can I segment swap the express engine and engine diagnostic segments over? or do I need to include the system segment too?

Thanks for the help, I have been cramming this info for the last two days. My brain is fried!
