I am working on putting a holden upper and lower intake on my fbody and they for some reason do not run a MAP sensor. Can I tune the MAP out and not put one on my car? What will I have to change or what issues will I have? Would be nice to not have to hook up a sensor or two during this swap :)
you have to have it will run poop. mine just went bad and it ran really really bad trans shift points and everything where WAY off
alrighty, shoot, guess I will have to drill a hole in the upper and also tap the two screw holes to mount it then into the holden intake. Any other options out there?
So how does the holden 3.8 cars run without the MAP then? Just curious how that works. Seems as long as you didn't unplug your maf or max out the maf that your map would not be called upon for values. Guess it also deals with that mysterious VE tuning that some people say does not do anything :)

How would I plumb in the 1bar map sensor that normally is secured into the intake manifold? Just block off the hole on the sensor housing and put the sensor inline on a vac line off the back of the manifold?
I would get a MAP sensor from a N/A car that uses a vac hose (3400 SFI powered cars come to mind, like a 2002 Grand Am GT). That way it will look stock :)
are all 1bar map sensor created equal or are there differences that I have to watch out for?
The two bar maps wont work on our cars. i ve got one on mine and it gives me all sorts of hell.
Just stick with your stock map and drudge along.
Pretty much - just make sure it's a MAP sensor and not a vacuum sensor (these wre used on the older carb cars, I doubt you'll get one of these). Get one for an 98-02 Grand Am/Grand Prix with the 3.4 and you should be fine.Quote:
