My first V6 2012 Camaro dyno tune. Engine and Trans.

I have been wanting someone to go the extra mile on one of these cars and have me tune it on the dyno but the reality is most folks with 5th GEN V6 Camaros won't spend the extra money to really nail it down on the dyno. I bet the others I have tuned these for wish they would have spent the coin. Of course all normal cam timing strategies work for making power and the results are pretty substantial.

Pre and post tune. Dyno 1/4 mile pass result sheets. This is a 15 hour tune. Learned a lot about these systems.

You made a big difference, but those drag times are terrible. A stock Camaro V6 should be trapping around 100 mph, not 90. The car launches plenty hard to the 60' mark, but it's already falling on its face at the 1/8 mile trapping 72 mph. I wonder if there's some weird driver error going on. Any commentary on that? My Malibu uses a port injected 3.6L (252 hp stock) and I trapped 96 mph before tuning.

Anyway, gaining 3 mph and .7 sec is impressive no matter how you look at it. What were the biggest improvements you found vs the stock tune? I haven't delved much into the engine side and would love to hear what you did.

Notice the DA posted on these then you can go to the National weather service for Choctaw or Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on the corresponding dates found on the result sheets. The highest HP pull was 258 on my Mustang 1100SE dyno. This is not a dynojet.

Furthermore you can compare a Apple to the Empire state building all day long and say they are the same, but a FWD will never have the drivetrain loss of a 6L80E, + Carrier bearing, + 3 universal joints, plus a hypoid ring and pinion.

Yes, I'm aware the point was the gains, I gave you props for your improvements and asked what you did (which you seem to have ignored). I was just shocked at the slow times. Kinda funny you call out my comparison of FWD vs RWD yet overlook the fact that the Camaro makes 70 more horsepower from factory.

Touched a nerve? No, you just made a post about something with incomplete information. Whether a deliberate error or not, a Malibu is an average of 400 pounds lighter than a 5th gen plus a lot less parasitic drag.

I posted in here about this car because I hadn't seen any other discussion publicly about prospective gains. I figured this was due to support not being out for a huge amount of time for them. I don't need you or another person in this forum to validate the type of work I do. My tune folder is over 2,000 deep and growing 5 days a week.

I agree the drag times are terrible but the air was also as bad as it can ever be here. Hot and raining. Horrible conditions for tuning and racing.

I literally asked you if you had insight into the slow acceleration runs, just like I asked what your tuning strategy was. I already know what a Camaro V6 typically runs at the track, I also know that my car weighs ~3650 lbs and a Camaro V6 weighs ~3800. I'm not sure what response you EXPECTED to get, but if you can't take a compliment and didn't want to talk about the tune or the 1/4 mile stats then I don't know why you posted.

I was impressed with the 2012 V6 Camaro I tuned. Customer drove 6 hours just for my tune. He has out ran several V8 Camaro's since and a V8 impala and a Challenger and more I am sure. He loves being able to light the rear tires up and for some reason likes the ability to go 140mph. I really have high expectations for the new Camaro with the twin turbo V6. Sound's like your customer is happy! Thanks for sharing

a bolt on v6 showed great power gains when tuned, in my experience they come with pretty lean afr's

Where did you make your biggest gains? I'm really curious about what to start researching next. I haven't done a whole lot with engine parameters.

I'd also like to know where gains are to be had. There's not a reputable dyno near me, but I want my next car to have this V6 and would love to open it up. I know the 4cyl NA crowd lost hp when messing with the exhaust tables. Did you get some hp/tq numbers also?

was wondering if you might could get a copy of your tune for comparison

I feel like there is a lot of animosity in the v6 community demonstrated by these earlier posts its a shame
