Single turbo. MAF tune. I'll spare you the year long details...?
This has a card style MAF, not a GM part.
Anyway, as I've turned up the boost, my data logs show the MAF g/sec flatlining at 655 g/sec.
I've not tuned an E38 ecu before. so be kind. I've done many Gen 3 P01's speed density, turbo cars all in the 8's.
I thought from reading that we can go way beyond this.
I started from the tune as delivered, no access to the stock tune file.

That?s just the limit it reports.. can still use AFR or lambda error to dial in fuel
So this is normal behavior. Interesting.
When I got to 17 psi boost it quit responding to MAF changes and is staying lean. I might be out of fuel system. I know nothing about the fuel system on these cars.

I believe it has a ZL1 pump upgrade Jason.
Fuel pressure shows in the data log. No clue if it?s a real measured parameter. But it falls to the 20?s at the end of a run.
BTW, in dyno Jet terms, I?m at 770 whp. From what I?m told, that?s the limit of the ZL1 pump.
It is a measured parameter. The fpcm is commanding it to lower the pressure on these cars from like 3500rpm and up. You need to register tour fpcm with 1 credit then u will have access to it to change it to stay at 58psi across the board.Quote:

At those WHP i surely would do dual pumps just to be safe and as stated above you can recalibrate the FPCM to work like ZL1 FPCM

Ok folks, I re-read the car with the latest 4.X version of hpt.
It seems to have read the FSCM.
There were no hpt warnings etc.
Haven?t tried to modify it to see if it will save.
The link mentioned is exhausting to read, so I?ll go over it again.

You can start with ZL1 FPCM parameters. do some log, fuel pump duty cycle and desired fuel pressure.

Ok guys, thanks for all the help.
I modified the FPCM with the ZL1 parameters.
I didn't mess with the Fuel Pump Duty Cycle portion.
I did tell it max boost would be 225 kpa
I saved it, and wrote it to the car. No issues other than the "Brickable" warning.
Then I read it back and it showed my numbers...?.
I thought I wasn't supposed to be able to read my changes?
Turned the boost down and did a pull. Pump duty cycle hit 100% and stayed there.
Desired fuel Pressure stayed at 58 psi.
Actual Fuel Pressure dropped to 32 psi.
This is all identical to how it was before I updated the FPCM
I must be doing something wrong.
It never asked me for credits...??
Ideas?

I think I get it now. After re-reading the other thread.
I told the ecu to make more pressure. It responded.
Did another pull, same result.
When you are out of pump, you are out of pump.
Given the hack job this car was when I got it from the customer last year, who knows if it really has a ZL1 pump.
Cool though that we can control the pump. Would be fun with a real pump back there.

Dsteck (DSX tuning) has an external aux pump that may help.
