MPVI Std with AEM AFR problems

I've been trying to get my HP tuners to work with my AEM 30-0300 x-band afr gauge with no success. I'm using a serial to usb adapter and according to tests, it is configured properly and does send/receive data, and I have the signal/pin2 and ground/pin5 hooked up and added a channel under serial for the aem afr gauge but as others have posted, it disappears when scanning. I've also tried "transforming" it with aem afr parameters but it still disappears when scanning. What am I doing wrong here aor should I just go through the egr/ac analog setup? Thanks for any help.
