I was always taught that if you have your throttle in the mid 80s and consistent you're good to go. I recently ran into some scans from some other tuners and they were getting 99% throttle. Am I missing something? Is there benefits to this?

You need to monitor the non generic PID for throttle position for it to be accurate.
So it's just a scanner set up thing. I thought that might be the issue. I think whatever this guy was using was bogus anyway. The car was clearly pulling throttle but still showed 99%.
Yes, you can tell by the little blue arrows on the left in the PID list when the scanner is active. Two arrows is generic, one arrow is specific to the ECU. You have to click the "no, I know what I am doing" when selecting the highlighted PID in my pictures below. You can see on this scan that I am monitoring both PID's and the Generic SAE channel is incorrect.
