Help !! Ford fusion trans tuning !!

ok I have a friend who has the 2010 fusion se 6spd auto that everyone loves so much because of the massive issues with the trans . With a little research I found a lot of these people were told the trans had to be reprogrammed due to it failing to engage a gear randomly at some point and then having to cut the car completely off and wait to restart before regaining control of the trans for a limited time . Now my question is , does HP have the ability to do basically the same thing with just a tune and fix the issue ? Thanks in advance tuner fam ! :chug:
