i am so tried of this mother trucker... its dying at a stop. idling way to low.
Your wideband is showing 11s AFR when its struggling to idle.
And Idle Adapt is removing 2.5g/s air.
what does this mean, like i said its dying as i come to a stop, the idle is to low. i dont want threw bunch air in . what to do
so cut the ve like 10%. ?
a i took about 25% out of the ve, and took 9.9 out of the idle adpat. this is a idle time in my garage, im new to this world please understand im learning the had way:banghead:
i took 25% out of the ve table across the table, then i took 9.9gs out of the idle adapt setting across the table. the adapt is now at 0.0 to 0.3 gs. i just dont want to hurt this thing. the longer time is from a logging i had just done before. i made those changes to the ve after that .
If you want try this VE.... Just start idle maybe smooth rev to 1800 or so and see results.
Adjust from an error log and repeat...
I would suggust putting all adaptive stuff back to stock, that probaly should not be adjusted until your VE (and MAF when applicable) are spot on.
Do you have a any graphs you are looking at, like the screen shot I posted?
Have you ever verified your wideband against fuel trims with your o2 sensors?
As I have said too many times to count over the years on this board all that stuff usually works well at stock setting. Calibrate the IAC effective area aka flow table and the most of the factory idle calibration magically just works the way it should. Then finalize the BRAF table after tuning the IAC Effective Area to be correct for the throttle bodies closed flow and IAC response. The only time it does not is if the junk aftermarket china made throttle body is not closing consistently.
On the supercharged DBW 5.3L I just tuned I did not have to do anything to most of the idle calibration despite the load of the Torque Storm. I added to the engine friction table to increase the values in the PCMs friction model and then did a BRAF log both in P/N and Drive from a cold start until it was fully up to temp.
Why turn the trims back off? Were you having issues? You know you can still run speed density and use the trims/closed loop, speed density doesn't need to be strictly open loop like you have it setup. With fuel trims in closed loop if you plot your trims against a chart of your VE table they will literally tell you what cells need changed and the exact percentage they are off. Such as the below example: (this is not from any of your logs so don't use it to make changes) You can also set up a similar chart using your wideband error percentage and it will work the same way in open loop

Yes that makes sense, i've just been suggesting that he use the trims to make things easier for him since he seems to have been struggling with this for a while, not even sure if he is interpreting the data correctly or setting up histo tables to apply it easily, the changes he had been making to the VE seem a bit random, the last file he posted looks like he is back to a stock VE profile that he was talking about reducing the entire table by 10% or something, and from another post above someone set up a histo for his AFR error and it was all pretty far off.
i thought it was set to stock, so use your tune , and dail in the ve from your tune
You need to drive and record data, use the data log to create a chart of your fuel error percentage like the screenshot i posted above, VCM Scanner can do this automatically once setup, either AFR/Lambda error or fuel trim error, then apply the data to the VE in the tune file, then repeat, all changes made to the VE (and most if not all other tables) should be made based off of data and not guesses
ok guys i know im getting on your guys nerves cause im getting on mine, this is what i did. i knocked the ve down 25%. then cut the braf bye 9.9gram. ok ive tuned it twice at this. here is the tune and a idle log in my garage.. want to thank you guys, it is starting better,. idle better, and not dying. im sure im not done but on a path, getting rid of the china throttle body has changed this truck alot. thanks
