Guys... read the very first post regarding upgrades:

Would it be possible to change one of the models to a different one since when we bought we had to chose 2? If not what would it cost if I would add a 4 banger and upgrade to MVPI Pro?:cheers:

I'm going to guess you haven't tuned that many LS1 cars, I have, over 50 different cars (all years F-bodys and most years of C5s). Maybe if you were in my shoes, you would truely understand all the points I'm trying to make on here and on LS1tech.com.
I'm right between the individual tuner and a true Tuner/Dyno Shop tuner.
So that makes me the bad guy? Please explain that one to me...
It seems HP Tuner wants to do away with tuners like myself, which I think is a bunch of crap.
I look forward to getting the LS2 support. I have customers waiting so the sooner I get the cable the better. And from my understanding of the new system I just have to buy the 4 credits needed to Tune LS2 based cars. Which is great for the time being but the bad part is Im going to have to pass more cost over to the customer being its going to cost an extra $200 per car being that HP tuners doesnt have a shop version for LS2 based cars yet. Which I was told was due to not knowing how many LS2 based cars or trucks they would be producing.
I have tuned about 15 cars with my program and the others i have helped who had hpt themselves. i have a lot of other people that will take advantage of tuning now with the single license. at least for me and the guys around here this helps us out. I do understand your point though.Quote:

Why delete this, it's more info and concern for your product that I am currently using. I don't consider it a bash, just showing you a concern I have from a loyal customer, I'm been with you guys since day 1!

I fully understand what you are saying...but please remember that the new pricing and structure is designed to meet everybodys needs....
it was going to go to $400(8 credits) for an unlimited liscens....but teh guys asked us our opinions on it...after many of us complained about the $400/liscense and only being 8 credits with th epackage..they decided that an appropriate compromise was the $300/6 credit that they have now...
it in my opinion was a fair compromise....
it made it so the end user could tune their car and add a 1 bar SD or even a 2/3 bar if they wanted...
the individual liscenses make it so guys like you and me can make money on tunes with any car now instead of just the ones we have bought liscenses for...
the fact that you have 4 seperate cables might have been good thinking at first...but if you decided to go that route then you also did not think about future possibilities...
many companies require their customers to buy multiple copies or buy a corperate liscense...and if you have bought 2 copies for 2 different machines then it requires 2 sets of upgrades unless they bought a corperate copy...
think of your 4 cables as teh cheaper individual copies that need 4 seperate upgrades now.
I dot know how the guys do business....but I know that they dont want to lose yours and you should consider sending them a note as they may have a compromise for you.....but either way..as an end user...you should realize that you gotta take what they offer as it was your decision to go cheaper with your first decision to buy multiple cables.
and if the prices are too high...then you should conside your advertising and sale pitch..
why would a driver want to pay $450 for a dyno tune when for the same $450 they could have a complete tune with part throttle,wideband on the street, and you could spend an hour at the dyno to do some fine tuning on spark.....or even spend less...
or you can always offer to be the guy who does the dyno tune...just go to the shop..put your wideband in their car...and tune away just the same...
you can always get individual liscenses for $100 or $200 gen 4....
and you still make money on tunes

As for the single license, great idea , but only for a single individual or the odd ball car that comes along. Myself, I'm just stricly tuning LS1 and hopefully LS2 cars. I don't want to get any busier than that at the moment, my family and personal life comes first. Basically, I don't ever think I'll have the time to start tuning Fords and Dodges. Since my 4 cables work perfect, why would I upgrade to the new USB? It would cost me $199 to do the same thing. So right now it only makes sense to keep my current setup.
I really do hope the new price structure will get reworked, and soon before too many people buy into the current "new" price structure and then that means more work for HP Tuners...
Billium, nobody is forcing you to upgrade. If you are happy with your serial interface, we want you to keep it!
let it go. people can make up there own minds. they do not need you to point things out. they can read and they can spend their money on what they feel is good for them.
consider the game consoles. would you buy a playstation 1 because the games are cheap and so is the console, or would you buy a playstation 2? games are more and so is the console, but better everything.
the businesses need to make money for r&d. they dont sell things at cost. let efi live come out with their stuff ( a while probably from now) then the market might balance out. look at AFR heads vs. patriots. which do you want? just relax. things will work out for you.
patience is key.
they have done a lot for us and have not been making any money on developement. they want some coin to match their efforts they have put into this market. they are great guys and certainly not trying to rip us off. do you want them to go out of business? i dont. can they charge less for there products? probably. will they continue r&d that way? maybe not.
Well not everyone is going to get what they want or be happpy. Im pretty cool with all this for my own reasons. I just wish that the cedits for Single Vehicles license would apply to the Year/Model license, even if there was some sort of penalty of some sort for doing it that way. Mabey even a discont on the year/model license if you bought a certain amount of Single licenes.
I think this would make alot of people happy but not all. Either way I have cash in hand and will be ordering on the first of march!!
BTW when will we have support for the Duramx? Will we beable to tune the power stroke when the ford stuff comes out??
