Tried/proven 42 pound injectors and data?

I'm planning my next round of upgrades to my '98 Camaro Z28. I currently have all the bolt on upgrades, and have my tune dialed in pretty close. Over the winter, I'm am planning to swap out the heads for some mildly cleaned up 243 heads, and a mild cam, in the 222/226 @.050 and .598 lift range.

I think I'll be beyond the realm of the stock injectors, so as part of my planning, I'm trying to find replacements and the corresponding data to go with them, so I don't end up chasing my tail.

There is data for ls3/ls7 injectors on this site. You can buy them pretty cheap as well.

I'm getting ready to have in stock the EV6 body green bosch 42lb injectors in stock along with calibration data specifically for them. I will start keeping in stock the red 30lb bosch and white 36lb bosch injectors as well. I've got to get my equipment up and going prior to selling set's of injectors but data will be provided from my test equipment with every set.

Oakley - Thanks, I'll search again but I keep finding conflicting data. I'm also not too keen on the idea of having to use adapters and hack the wiring harness up.

It's one of those tuning deals that separates tuners from one another. Tuners are competitive by nature and the more accurate you can get injector calibrations the better the tunes will be. This makes finding injector data impossible, however it is out there. Any of the Ford based injectors (Which are all Bosch) work very well because there is some backwards math you can do with the Ford data to get them to work very well in a GM PCM. However it's still not perfect and a full characterization of the injectors on a flow bench is really the best way of doing things.

I undertand what you're saying, but it doesn't help those of us in the process of learning to tune. *sigh*

The_Bishop: There is only one aftermarket injector company currently that provides actual characterization data for their injectors (as opposed to making it up). Unfortunately, what they provide is going to flow at least twice as much as what you need. Factory GM injectors really are your best bet. LS3/7 injectors will do what you need with ease.

Correct, if you want to get by cheap looking for a larger factory injector is a huge benefit. The LS3/LS7 flow ~42lb at our fuel pressure and are shorter so an adapter cup is needed to make up the extra height. Your LS1 also has different electrical connectors (called Jetronic/Minitimer). Most newer stuff has switched to the USCAR connectors. The adapters can be found for ~$30 on ebay. Most people call the connectors EV1 or EV6 but that is wrong, EV1 and EV6 are the actual body size of the injector itself. EV1 are generally the large fat body injectors that were mostly used in the 90's. LS1's have an EV6 body with a jetronic/minitimer plug.

Once you understand how the injector data correlates in the tune the puzzle pieces will start falling into place.

I have the electrical connectors if you want to redo your engine harness. I can get spacers, but they aren't cheap. Whatever you do, don't use spacers that go on the bottom.

DSteck, I found some hard EV1 to USCAR adapters. Any drawbacks to using them? I have no problems with modding wiring, but these seemed easier to use.

Also found top mounted spacers. They're from a vendor that you've er... crossed words with once or twice. They're going to be roughly $72. Is that the price range you were talking about, or higher?

No real drawbacks to adapters besides adding another poor of contact in the wiring that can corrode. Would I let that stop me? Nope. I hate wiring. Sign me up for PnP stuff any day. Lol.

The FIC spacers are just fine. They use proper top mounted spacers. That's about what you'll expect to pay for them.

On a separate note; I do have the Calibrated Success DVD set. Completely forgot about it!

How accurate is the data in the included data disk?

Ah, scratch that about the other injectors. Found a set of LS3 injectors, got them, the height adapters, and the wiring adapters for around $200.

The LS3's are a great way to go. I just hope you don't run into what I have. My injectors seem to be flowing at about 50% capacity. I have to double my VE just to keep my LTFT under 30%+.

Lol gee thanks. Ya I looked up the number and they are LS3 injectors. I have one last thing to try.

Well my one last thing was it. I had a weak ground to the fuel pump. The rail would show 58psi and it would run with the racetronic injectors but for some reason the ls3's just wouldn't have it.
