01 5.3 Silverado 1500 poor acceleration/no power

Hey guys looking for some input: This vehicle is on a stock tune, I wanted to get this somewhat running ok before I attempted to tune it.

2001 Silverado 5.3. starts and seems to run fine at idle when I step on the gas it is very sluggish off the line and struggles to go anywhere. It just Boggs and acts like it has no power.
I have checked Fuel pressure and it is steady at 58/59 psi.
Cleaned out the MAF.
New plugs
cleaned the throttle body.
Checked for vacuum leaks.
Was curious if anyone noticed anything out of the ordinary with my VCM log. I am still a newbie, and my experience is limited using the VCM suite.

stock bottom end
Pro LS Cam 232/242 113+3 600/600 Lift
roller rocker arms from a ls1
ls rocker arm bolts
hardened push rods
(Other wise stock 862 heads)
stock air intake manifold
Torque converter
ACC performance 49454 3200-3600

P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow A Circuit Range/Performance (Pending)
P0135 - O2 Heater Circuit (Bank 1, Sensor 1) (Pending)

P0342 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low (Bank 1 or single sensor) (Pending)
Controller Type ID By VIN: 5070
Controller Type ID By OS: 5070

I know you don't want to hear this.. but that cam is a very poor choice for this.

intake, compression, heads, and application all matter when choosing a cam. This will likely make less power than the stock cam until 4.8k at least.

Really from what i Read this cam would work well with 4.8/5.3/6.0 applications?

What makes this cam a poor choice?

Way too much duration for a 5.3L. I've always said everyone needs to over cam an engine at least once in their life so they learn not to do it again. I did mine back in 1972 on a 8.5:1 350 chevy.

Post the tune and a log of the event while the engine is up to temp.

I'm not sure what the logic is behind trying to run it at all on the stock tune. And especially don't understand why it's a surprise that it doesn't run very well like that.

Due to me thinking that this is a mechanical issue over a tuning issue. I could be wrong, I was just curious to know if anyone noticed anything out of the ordinary with the scan log I posted.

This isn't a Gen 1 SBC with limited head flow, the ballpark .050" duration that works on a SBC is going to be way big and way high RPM stuff in a LS, more so as the LS displacement gets smaller.

Damn that sucks.

What sucks? It's running like ass because you need to tune it. Poor acceleration/no power is a subjective term. With that cam you'll be down on torque in the low rpm zones, but it's nothing to complain about unless you're towing/hauling. That's not you because of the stall.

I was thinking I made a bad choice on the cam I choose from summit, although I did more research and still think this cam will be ok.
Definitely not tow/hauling with this truck more of a weekend cruiser build.
I am going to add the vcm scanner log and current tune as well this afternoon.

We know what 232/242 113 means. The parts they leave out of the marketing copy is the relevant bit, not the good parts they chose to mention.

Looks like it's running on 4 cylinders. Bank 2 O2 is in the dirt and stays there. Check to see if bank 2 exhaust header/manifold is cool or barely warmish.

Bank 1 (Driver side) exhaust header is cold/warm
Bank 2 (Passenger side) exhaust header is defiantly hot

Sounds like you have the O2 sensors crossed and one bank is dead. 2 different problems.

Most likely reason for one entire bank to be dead is the ground on the back of the head. Each bank has a ground for the coil pack. That's first thing to check. Make sure there's a ground wire bolted to the back of the head. They get pulled and/or broken often times.

Dang that makes a lot of sense, this was an engine replacement that I have just finished up. All definitely be checking this out after work.

I have the same issue stock 5.3 in a 2001 Serria GMC, I drove my neighbors stock 2002 4.8 and it runs much better than my 5.3 has lots more power on take off and shifts so much better with same transmissions.

Uh, not supposed to be like that. The 5.3 has not only larger displacement but longer stroke. Could be gearing. If you want to post your tune and log in a new thread we'll take a look.
