I'm tuning a 04 Impala SS w/ a SC 3.8 for a friend of mine.
There is no air mass PID in the scanner but it's needed to log spark.
I've read a few posts about how to calculate air mass and I'm not for sure which one I should actually use.
I also found calculated airmass in the math parameters in the scanner but I don't know if it's right or not. It seems really high for what little is done to the engine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Weird that you can't add Cylinder Airmass to the channels list.
I tuned my 3800 for years and could.
I thought the same thing. I've repolled multiple times, even tried the BETA scanner and it's not listed.
I haven't asked support, but I can't see them adding this PID for this old of platform.
However it's extremely important.
Not sure if it is relevant at all but you can try using the OS override option in the scanner. HPT never explained how to properly use it or what use cases it may have, but it is in there.

Support has been trying to add the air mass PID for me now, for like 5 months now, but it still isn't working.
In the math parameters, it has section for calculated air mass for various engines. If what I read on the interweb is true, air mass is a calculation based off the MAF in g/s.
I've added the 6 cylinder, 4 stroke math parameter and in the log, the numbers "look right" as far as what they are at idle, but I'm a little hesitant to trust them under boost. I think when I tried to use it before, I wasn't logging the MAF in g/s. It's been so long I can't remember.
Does anyone have any experience with the air mass math parameter and is it accurate compared to if HPT added the PID?

It will be accurate. Use dynamic airflow. You can calculate it yourself to double check the scanner.
E.g. My boosted LS V8 6,604rpm & 714.65g/s
DYN_AIRFLOW * 120 / NO_OF_CYLINDERS / RPM
714.65 * 120 / 8 / 6,604rpm = 1.623g APC. Bloody near spot on with my log.
Scanner Math: [2320.71]*120/8/[50070.56]
