This is a bit of a side track, but there are clones out for the gm MDI that can be had for about $200.. They work great for gm sps programming,GDS2,Tech2win,etc.. They are supposed to be J2534 compliant..
Is there an easy way to see if the Ford IDS system will recognize it?? I have one, I could test it, I just have no knowledge of the IDS system? Is there a demo version?
www.tactrix.com - $169.00
found this

Looks like its tested with IDS but not supported yet?
To use IDS you need to pay for subcription at https://www.motorcraftservice.com
however found this but dont know if it will work, and it says you cant go online after intall:

What year car do you need this for?
2013 fiesta St, may need it for ECU replace
Tactrix will work just fine on it with IDS.
You think this is the same, or china copy?

Nice price:-)
A j2534 device will not support IDS. It is limited to the VCM rotunda unit. However a J2534 cable will support this other programming ONLY subscription http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...utsid=pubs_pcm
I have an IDS subscription along with a mongoose J2534 interface and have tried it I couldn't get it to work. The IDS cable is a weird LAN connection that communicates via the usb port. I also have a Tactrix interface I haven't tried it but doubt it will work unless Caesar has actually tried it.
ok so if i buy the Tactrix it should support Ford Module Programming (FMP)?
I want to try replace Fiesta ST 2013 European ECU with Fiesta ST 2014 American ECU, these are different both hardware and software.
You think it will work?
I also need to check if no other parts are different, hope Europe and US have same part number for same parts in microcat.
The Authentic VCMII is a bit expensive and i don't want to buy a china clone, some people question the quality of them.
Maybe it would be cheeper to have my dealer program it, if they will, but tactrix could be useful.
I have programmed a Fiesta ECM myself with the Tactrix device via Ford's $32.95 web service.
ok thanks, tactrix sounds like the solution:-)
Any way I can get info on using IDS with Tactrix? I?m trying to flash a used Mazda 3 ECM to replace a faulty one. Thanks!
