I have a 1996+ GM Vortec Marine engine in my 2001 Mastercraft X-Star. I know where the PCM is, it has only 2 plugs compared to the truck PCM's 4. Is it possible to tune it?

I very highly doubt it.
Didn't think so, bummer.Quote:

It really would depend on whatever operating system/vin is in the pcm currently. You surely can try but nothing is guaranteed.Quote:

Bumping an oldie. Has this changed? I dont know what ECU the new 5.7L and 6.2L Mercruisers use but I thought you guys might:D
The 6.2 has MEFI 5c
Bumping a very oldie.
What prevents the HP Tuners scanner from working with an MEFI ECU (specifically MEFI IV). The serial data output for the MEFI IV controller is on pin G of the connector. With a crossover connector you could get that data to pin 2 of the MVPI pretty easily and the ground pin A over to pin 10 of the MVPI. GM developed the MEFI controllers so I can't imagine the serial data stream is vastly different.
I know I could use TunerPro RT (which I have) but it is not nearly as user friendly as HP Tuners and I would prefer not to have to learn another software set unless absolutely necessary.
Just to be clear I would not be looking to write to the MEFI controller just scan/monitor.
The MEFI 5 is a 250kb CAN bus.
We plan to release reading/writing/licensing/scanning soon. We already have it working on my race car. :)
Stay tuned!
Keith, any updates on the mefi writing?
Reading/tuning/writing fully works. We just need to work out the licensing part. I expect we'll get to that in about 2-3 months.
Have you made any progress with the MEFI5 (&6)
Mefi 1-4 have their own cable mefi 5&6 requires a can cable adapter . Most use Diacom to read the ecm. Maybe hp will come out with something but for now I scan with tuner pro and write with mefi burn. You also have to have a password to unlock the ecm.
This is an old thread, but I am digging it up because Keith@hptuners said it was coming. Just wondering if I missed something. I am building a 383 for my boat and would rather not spend $600 for Mefi Burn if Hptuners can do it.
