Need credit to scan engine error codes?

I have HP Tuners license with one activated vechicule.

I will buy another Corvette this year, but prior to buying it I will scan the computer for any DTC

Do I need to buy a vehicule license to scan the DTCs?

Nothing in the scanner requires anything to be licensed.
