not on our roadmaps at this stage, we are very busy with what we've already got.
Chris,
if the 335I's TT DI motor is rockin' the bosch MED9 controller, it could be a short path to a great new revenue stream. you'd have the whole market, as there is no current tuning suite for them.
+folks are accustomed to paying $1K for just a reflash!
it's the same controller but the devil is in the detail, i doubt GM & BMW share the same read/write/access routines :)
ie. same house, same furniture, different locks and alarm systems ;)
No tuning but you should be able to scan most obd2 vehicles with the newest beta, if you'd care to test it out on some foreign vehicles shoot support an email with your serial number & the subject generic obd2 scanning beta tester
Theres a new one up.
Can the generic scanner read this code from a BMW?
2D25C:
2D25 Mass Air Flow Excessive - External Tuning Box Detected
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Short circuit or signal interruption
EXPLANATION: Tuner detection code
More than likely yes.
Bill,
I received the Beta back in April and was able to scan a 2010 BMW 335i (diagnostic codes only). Today I tried to read codes from another friends 2007 BMW 335i and the scanner would not detect the VCM. I verified my box was able to communicate by scanning my wife's 2006 Corvette and the scanner/beta worked fine. We verified the OBD and lighter (sounds odd but another forum suggested checking this one) fuses in the BMW and all was well. Any ideas why this would not talk to the BMW?
I'm specifically trying to read the BMW specific 2D25C code I mentioned back in April on this 2007 335i. The car currently also has reported (via the DIC) reduced engine power. Friend removed an after market tuner from the vehicle today so we're just trying to find out what codes are set in the VCM.
Any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated. I've really enjoyed the privilege of using the beta. Keep up the great work.
wow, tuner detection DTC...
Not sure if anything has changed but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, any plans to add BMW's to the list? I am looking at tuning a E82 128i if that matters.
I am also after a BMW tuning solution for a 335i equipped with a ZF 6 speed. I would be so happy to use HpTuners VCM suite on a BMW. There is plenty of market for it in Australia where the 335i and 135i are likely to become the most popular turbo to tune as the ford and FPV turbos are no longer being made and will become scarce.
I'm also after a tuning suite that will help me tune my E28M5 - M3 S54 swap car. The ECU is an MSS54 and there is quite a bit of support on M3Forum.net, however, there's no true tuning software that shows live date - tune on the fly type of functionality. Everyone is data logging the ECU and then tweaking the hex code. Some use TunerPro but is very limited. If you guys had a package that allowed us to tune our stock ECU similar to that of an aftermarket system that would be awesome. I'd pay up to $1200 if it rocked...
Any news on this? I have the XML, XDF, and BIN files for most of the BMW vehicles from 2002 forward... If nothing develops then I'm going to continue writing my own tuning application for the BMW's. I just finished revising and writing a C# application for reading, writing, and applying the checksums for several BMW's... Thanks.
i have the jb4 on my new f80 m3 I can increase boost on the fly with my phone and get additional 100HP its hard to beat
Love that you're branching into other markets with the AMG engines but I could get far more BMWs to tune. Just thought I would add to the thread showing an interest. Seems like I have had more people asking about BMW tuning since I started getting into the Ecoboost market lately and I've been telling them I don't currently tune BMW.
My work specialises in bmw's we are also looking for a tuning solution.
Its a big market and its currently the only thing holding these cars back
the lack of tuning capability. We rely on custom flashes atm.
If you need beta testing we are more than happy to do it.
Also interested. I have a 550i (Twin Turbo V8) and the current market doesn't have any support for REAL custom tuning, I have a high HP build in mind with a single turbo setup but lack the tuning capability.
This would be awesome -
My daughters 2008 BMW 335i N54 A6 - man what I wouldn't do to have the capabilities with HP Tuners on this car too -
Burger won't even sell the JB4 in California anymore - I will either have to get a good used one or have a friend out of state purchase it and send it to me - craziness!
Thanks,Matt

@Hazard - shoot me a pm or email at my username at gmail. What DME does your car have?
@MadMatt - what capabilities are you wanting. There are free tuning possibilities out there for the N54 especially!
For N54 this is a great solution, a friend of mine made the tool. anyone needing European tuning, i have been tuning European ecus for 15+ years and have many exotic file offerings. For most BMW's all u need is a D-can / Kline cable, like used on the solution bellow. If you would like a free Stage 1 N54 tune+ALS NLS private message me and ill sort you out.

Accidentally stumbled onto this thread....you guys don't have anything for a E90 diesel do you?....2010 335D
I have a cheap solution to read/write your EDC16 or EDC17CP09 via OBD, i can provide you high quality remote remap for your 335D with any extra features you want or need need (launch controls, cluster boost gauge)
You consider deep diving bcm's for mopar products and gm's?
The Mopar an GM ecm's are already being taken care of. The 335d DME is also able to be flashed via an OBD2 cable. Typical cables run approximately $20-$40 for quality devices. Not sure who @Sharmz is or where they are located, but I believe he does have the capability as it does already exist for the BMW platforms. Sharmz, hmu at gmail behind my username here.
I can tune what ever you fellas need that's European, any one who wants to call me to ask questions is free 226 476 6010 or you can reach me though private message, i have cores of dozens of PCM's ( for the cars that need more complex bench read writing) so i offer plug and play PCMS (you return your old one after installed). For certain cars i have custom OBD boot loader cable I ship you for the flash process, and in other instances you can buy a $5-$20 china cable to do the job. I not only offer the tune file (which many tuners try their hardest to make to complex to understand) i offer training on the MED type PCM's i have been tuning SIMOS EDC and MED for 15+ years i do many advanced things for these ecu types. and i am located in Ontario Canada for those wondering. For a living i offer tuner support and i program scripts and tools to inject custom functions into the PCM, most of my day is spent processing other tuned files and adding some extras.
i added my website to the sig, i only use this site to sell a couple different pcm's, my solutions are are b2b.
PM sent, Sharmz
Hey all, I know this is a really old thread. Just curious if I can live scan most parameters from a 2003 BMW. I'm going to help a buddy go after a misfire code. Don't need to program anything, just want to scan. Are most of the OBD parameters the same? looking for things like RPM, MAP, MAF, TPS etc.
Have a look and search for Test-O, it works with Elm, K+DCAN, and various other protocols. The first step is getting a cable. If you said the model number or engine then we could probably tell you very easily... Try to spray some starter fluid above the intake manifold and around vacuum lines to make sure it's not a vacuum leak in lieu of a misfire....
What people want is for hp tuners to develop the bmw tuning
not rely on flash tuning from the us as its near impossible to get tuning done right
and in a timely manner in custom applications.
You guys are doing Mercedes etc why not bmw its a huge market.
Email me at [email protected]
I would like to know about bmw tuning.
you know youll get all a large revenue from bmw s cz till now there is not an affordable or well programed software to do custom tune for these awesome v8 twin turbo engine that are very capable.
