na methanol tuning
just wondering if anyone would have any info on this subject?
ie. what size injectors to aim for and anything tricky that might need to be looked at in the tune to run well?
think he's just gonna use an e-gas or something. is for a speedway car and can get methanol cheap is apparently his reasoning lol.

Double you fuel system capacity (as a minimum) adjust the stoich value in your tune to suit methanol (5.5 to 6.45 ish at cruise...not that you would cruise on methanol and somewhere in the 4's for max power) and then tune from there.
In terms of cheap it would need to better than half the price of PULP as your going to chew through a shit load + the cost of fuel system mods.
Are they allowed to run E85?

I ran a couple of injector calculators and it looks like 6 bosch 280158040 injectors will support about 450hp or so @ 80% dc with 43.5 psi rail pressure on methanol. Bosch suggests running petrol after methanol use to flush the injectors.
I picked a few links from google that describes what afr to run, various timing figures that people have used in different setups and how not to wreck your wideband sensor (at the bottom of the innovate page). It will give you plenty of reading material.

I also thought that e85 would be better suited due to the increased maintenance that running methanol would create and also perhaps that the gains from e85 to methanol would be minimal.

A 750cc @ 3bar injector would suffice providing you're only spinning it to 6500.
-
so pretty much simple as that?
didnt want to over/under think it so thought i'd ask.
not sure what he'll be spinning it to and yeah i suggested e85 as well but he's used methanol in the past and likes it, so who am i to say no lol.

Fuel tuning is pretty straight forward. But being a speedway car I'm assuming it's going to have aftermarket cams....if you go too big piss the VCT off to make tuning on the stock PCM manageable.

sweet! nah no cams, not sure he's allowed to run them.
thanks for the help guys.
