I replied to your email with some of my information.
I would love it. I am still having trouble getting rid of the reduced power message on the DIC. If you could put the ELM322 in the bus monitor mode and record a few minutes worth of data to both...
Other than all the other stray indicators and DIC messages that are still displayed.
Yes, it basically automates the ASCII strings that you could send from Hyperterminal, loops them once every so many seconds to keep a steady display.
elm322 and a python script I wrote.
When you say OK messages, do you mean the State of Health messages?
Well, now I need to know how to get rid of the "Reduced Engine Power" message that the DIC is displaying.

But this is not CAN, it doesnt have nearly the same bandwidth. That many messages just for the gauges seems like a lot of network traffic.
If I send the message once, the needle sets. If I dont send the message again within a short period ~5 seconds, it pegs again. So if I send coolant temp = 190 every 5 seconds, the needle will stay...
I have to continuously send them to get the needle to stay steady. Not sure if this is how it really works in the vehicle.
I was able to find the message formats in the SAE J2178 books, and I am able to command the fuel level, oil level and water temp. But about 5 seconds after I command it, the gauges go back to the...

I am currently working on a project where I am trying to set the gauge values on an IPC from a 99 Vette, its stand alone outside of a car. I have the circuitry that allows me to send and read the...
Nope, the ecu does not follow the J1850 standard. Which is why I need to know the commands so I can process the ECU data and output the data to the cluster in the J1850 format.
Unfortunately I don't have a vehicle to sniff on. I just have the gauge cluster that I am planning on using in a project vehicle that uses a standalone ECU.

I am working on a project car where I am using a GM gauge cluster that uses J1850 protocol, I don't have it yet so I can't test it. Can anyone tell me if these clusters request data on the network,...

I understand that early 00's GM vehicles(Corvette in particular) use the 1850 class 2 bus for a lot of the PCM/BCM and instrument cluster data. My question is, does the instrument panel continuously...
