so I have a 98 Chevy 4.3l it is connected to the scanner as well and scanning but it is doing the same thing yours is, the vin would not populate so I manually entered it, after that is says Unknown...

what did they say? I am running into this x35 message as well, I had to manually enter my vin also and don't know which hardware to choose.

I keep getting this didn't retry after booting but I will.
