I realize this is an old post, but I found it is 2021 looking for sensor signal info. As to the OP's question, the answer is yes. See the linked article for how it was done on a 2000 Dodge Dakota...
I realize it is a longshot, but since the 1998 Durango is a supported vehicle, I was curious if anyone has experience with how the tach is driven? The manual seems to indicate it is driven by the...
I've been working on a solution involving a microcontroller (Arduino) and as of today have tested it on the truck using a potentiometer to simulate the output from the sensors. Here is a link to my...
They look different because they are reversed. On my fan, 90% duty cycle = 10% fan speed, while on the C6, 90% duty cycle= 100% fan speed.
I have tried various duty cycle settings there and none...
Thanks for the reply. I have attached an annotated combination of your pics for comparison. Key points:
The C6 uses a fan module that supplies power, ground, and accepts the PWM signal from C1-36....
Apparently an unsolvable problem. I'm working on adapting an Arduino to control the fan based upon temperature and pressure inputs. It's a lot of work and may not work at all. If it does, I'll update...
I have sent this up the chain through support, and Bill suggested I post here since they can't find anything in the software:
Setup:
2005 Rainier, 5.3L LH6, stock engine other than DoD removed....
Background: I did away with the huge mechanical fan on my 2005 Rainier 5.3 LH6 (E40 PCM), rewired for a PWM fan and added a large one from a Mercedes that uses similar settings (except for PWM...
UPDATE- The problem was caused by a replacement PCM connector that was mislabeled, so the PCM was not getting any power or ground. Once I sorted that, it worked as it should.
So I have swapped...
This does get convoluted... my truck uses both a Dodge and GM PCM, with split responsibilities. My harness was a blue/green (2003 I think) that came from another 5.3 I had bought some time ago. When...
Thanks for all the replies. If I can ever PM the fellow from the 67-72 truck forum, I can hopefully get a VIN and check it to see the factory RPOs to verify or refute what was posted. I have...
Based upon the evidence I've found, I disagree:
1. GM Heritage info:

According to this...
I'm getting ready to install the 411 PCM into my Durango swap. I'd like to use a stock tune from a 2000 Silverado 2500 that came with the 5.3 and 4L80 to start out. Apparently this was a 1-year...
On my truck, it was very visible under the intake. I have the valley cover with "veins", so it's time to start collecting parts for the next project. One good thing is I have an L33 non-AFM cam...
Makes sense, thanks. I'll look it over when it returns this weekend.

The truck is out of town right now, but if it is laid out like the LM4 I just rebuilt I'm not sure how I can see much of it with the intake in place.
I don't know. It's the wife's daily driver, so I can't pull the intake to check the valley plate right now. I do want to run a compression test on it though.
We bought the truck with 170K miles back in April. I noticed it is using a good bit of oil- maybe 1 quart/1K miles. I installed a catch can and in a recent 1K mile round trip it had like 3 ounces...
Good to know, I can use C1-41 then. Thanks.
I am doing an engine swap (2004 LM4 5.3 from an Envoy) in my '98 Durango. I'm using a harness I had on hand from a 2003+ (Blue/Green) truck and converting it. The PCM will be from a 2000-02...
I road tested some more today & for the most part it went well. I had a MIL and on scanning it I saw P0171 and 0174 (banks 1 and 2 too lean). A search online showed some Gen 4 vehicles run rich after...
It's from an early 2000s Mercedes C class, I think the model was a 320. The data I got was from a YouTube video:

I found another thread that...
I did copy those settings. Per your advice, I pulled the relay and added a Metri Pack jumper wire on 4 & 5. I made a quasi-plug & play setup by cutting off the OEM fan connector and then cutting away...
Squirrel, if you're still following this thread, I got everything done today - found I had to reflow the ABS module as well- and started the truck. I'm having an issue with the PWM fan. Mine is from...
Here's yet another tach question.
My 1998 Durango (originally a 5.9 V8 with 46RE) is getting a 2004 LM4 5.3L Chevy V8 and 4L80. I've been doing some reading on the affected crank sensors in...
