I had the same fault when i installed 2.0 . i found the fault to be my pcmcia to sieral adapter which i had to use with 1.7 because i had problems with usb.
whent back to usb it now works perfect

i do it in this order that way i know VCM has taken control of the auto

1= shift trans from nuetrel to 1st
2= open vcm controls,trans,a4 gear select
