I upgraded my serial interface to the MVPI Pro and now I get the same error on a 2004 GMC Sierra 5.3l.

I bought the truck new and the only tuning that was ever done on it was done by me with...

    Re: Misfire counter by cylinder

Nevermind, I was able to pull the misfire history using Vehicle Explorer from OBD-2.com.

I had a few misfires on most of my cylinders and 5000+ on #5.

Looks like my Magnecor KV85 on #5 split...

    Re: Misfire counter by cylinder

OK, I grabbed the data from the truck and looked at it in the editor but I don't see exactly what you said. I don't see an option to Add DTC anywhere.

In the VCM Editor Engine Diagnostics section...

Great, thanks for the info! I will have to give that a try and see where it thinks the problem is.

    Thanks again,

    Misfire counter by cylinder

In the Scanner is it possible to see the misfire counter by cylinder? This is in a 2004 Sierra 5.3l.

This morning my truck started misfiring badly (MIL flashing) but the only code I get is a...

    Re: Spark Retard Limit

Where are you talking about spark retard?

In the editor I see spark retard settings for knock, traction control and maybe torque management.

The first two are under engine in the spark retard...

Re: Space bar for logging instead of scanning?

    Keith,

    Thanks glad to hear it.

What I'd *love* to see would be something like an auto logging/naming mode.

When you turn that mode on the software would ask for something like a file name....

Space bar for logging instead of scanning?

Any chance later versions can change the space bar to turn logging on off instead of turning scanning on and off? That would be much more useful to log just the data from a single run.

    Re: A/D Datalog Adder

While I don't think a program could self tune everything during closed loop operation, self tuning the mixture should be possible. After all that is basically what the VCM is doing dead stock by...

" The simplest way to disable the effect of knock learn is to set the HO table the same as the LO table."

If you do this does this mean you have disabled the knock sensors completely (or is it...

    Re: Main spark vs. airflow??

" Hmmm... no, the high and low octane tables all have the
    same 1.20 gm/sec maximum index. That's kooky. "

Now we are on the same page.

The index is actually listed as g/cyl which is why I was...

    Re: Main spark vs. airflow??

I don't have my logs (or the software) in front of me but I think I saw around 30lbs/min max airflow. By the above that works out to about 227gm/sec.

However that still doesn't solve my question....

    P1514 error....

For the P1514 error I assume this is sort of like a rationality check on the MAF meter.

IOW, if it is was showing very little airflow at 6k and 100% TPS it would throw that error. Or on the flip...

    Ken,

Re: What is the 'torque' figure?

The torque I'm talking about isn't a map setting to change, it is an axis of the grid itself as part of the lookup table.

    What is the 'torque' figure?

In some of the A4 transmissions settings there is a torque field on the maps ranging from 0 to 640. What is this number and how is it calculated? Would it be something like a calculated load?
