This has probably been discussed ad nauseum as it is one of the first thing one notices when looking at the various data tables the HP Tuner software shows. However, being 76 years old and not wanting to waste days of whats left hunting this archive, I'll just ask. I notice a number of tables, most actually, that vary systematically around some number, let's say 1.0 for the time being. There may be six rows and 8 columns. The entries when plotted in 3D look like the most torturous terrain you have ever seen. the actual variation might be plus or minus 5%. What harm can come from smoothing these tables. Some like timing advance vs engine rpm have much larger changes but again are quite jumpy when plotted in 3D. How come?
