How to make my neighbors happy with 6am cold starts?? 18 ZL1 6mt

As the title states, I have 18 ZL1 6mt with headers, full exhaust with no valves, and catless. I leave for work very early in the morning and wondering if anyone has had success in modifying the tune to make the car not flare up so much on startup, and not be so loud. After about 10 seconds of running the car is what I would consider acceptable, but before that its a wake up call for anyone within 100 yards of the car.

Unlock the CCM (3 credits if I remember correctly) and then you can turn off what is labeled "rumble start" in all modes or just in touring mode.

Get with the times, dude. It's a free country, if your neighbors don't like it they're free to move somewhere else. (this is a joke - or, would be if it weren't painfully true to how so, so SO many of our fellow citizens think these days)

This has to be something specific to timing and target throttle while cranking, as well as target idle rpm on initial start. Regardless of temp of engine it has a noticeable "flare up" on start. I get it, its meant to grab attention, but I prefer to be a good neighbor and tired of scaring babies and making them cry when we leave restaurants (this really happened). ZLRob is correct on the rumble start feature being there with CMM, but everything I can tell is it would be a waste of credits since I do not have the valves on my exhaust. The exhaust I have is the Corsa Performance 2.75in. Axle-Back Xtreme Dual Exhaust 4.0in. Black Tips, so combined with full straight piped exhaust all the way up to the long tube catless headers, this car is very loud no matter what. I am just trying to make it not so jolting on start up.

Do a couple of 5:30 starts. They'll appreciate the 6am starts.

This is what is called "Cat warmup start". The ability to turn this off was removed from HPTuners a while ago which was likely due to pressure from the EPA.

So from the sounds of it, there is nothing he can address on the tune side, so he is best off dialing down the "loud factor" on his car via mechanical means. Time to get that resonated X- Pipe I was telling you about for it! It will help tame it down at start up, but it will also do it while driving as well.

Or just reinstall the NPP catback (or an aftermarket one that lets you reuse the NPP actuators)… problem solved.

Or just go back to an older version of HPTuners

That is an option also, but I would think the resonated X would be the cheaper of the two and tone him down just enough to where him and his bitter neighbors would be happy with the sound level. Haha.

A resonated X pipe is not solving this issue LOL! Trust me on that…
