New car, ecu "returned to stock", will i have problems?

I see a lot of posts (FB, etc) related to people purchasing hptuners then being unable to read their ecu or load their tune because someone had previous touched the ecu.

Is this something i should be concerned about? I just purchased an 09 tc, the car was returned to stock but still has 3 bar map sensors wired in. I have no idea what tune is in it or who did it.

If you have a 3 bar MAP and it runs it isn't a stock calibration.

The car was decently modified and returned to stock. The ecu had to have some variation of downgrading to run with stock everything else, if it was tuned for the previous set up. Which leaves me in my current situation. Not knowing exactly what tune is in it or who did it.

I definitely do not want to buy hptuners and not be able to flash over the current tune. This seems like a pretty common issue on various social media sites.

what year/make/model vehicle are we talking? Was the vehicle previously tunerlocked? Tunerlocked ecm's are the most troublesome.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

2009 cobalt ss sedan. I cant tell if its been locked. There are no stickers or anything on the ecu. Is there a way to verify that is indeed locked?

on those the most common error when tunerlocked is an X11 error when reading iirc
