    2002 5.3 SD tune/ new swap

    Hello everyone
I attached my tune file for my machine, it is running a completely stock 2002 5.3 Sierra doner engine with custom long tube headers for my chassis and engine location.
I have only made changes from the stock file that suit the new chassis "manual transmission, 2 electric fans" and disabled abuse mode.
That file was converted to speed density which made several changes on its own then I made a some deletes on O2 sensors and disabled LTFT. Nothing else has been adjusted on VE table. I took this machine of a shakedown drive today and it did really well but definitely could use some tweaks.
    Only help seeking so far:
Upon startup the idle will usually jump up in the 2.5k sometimes 3k rpm and stay for awhile. I will cycle the key and stab the throttle a few times and then it will settle down in the 550 rpm idle. Once the idle rpm will get down under 1k it will stay there every time every restart. I have only put 4 miles on it today running quite well with a few misfires.
The engine has the intake manifold on backwards because it is in the middle of a Corvair, has a stock 195* thermostat, no MAF or O2 sensors, wired in a IAT sensor in the short inlet tube after the air filter, alternator is the only belt driven drag. I used the stock harness that I modified and integrated into the chassis harness.
This LS swap replaced a DZ 302 that was already in the middle of this machine, the old small block was not easily street driven I wanted to get away from that and gain EFI. I used a Mcleod thick flywheel and an 11" clutch on this 5.3 and bolted to the Lakewood bell that is on my Crown conversion corvair transaxle.

Set the MAF dtc's to MIL on first error for speed density.

Something must be hanging up the throttle blade if the RPM's jump that high or there is an issue with the IAC. A stock engine with only a speed density tune won't cause any of that.

Always verify for vacuum leaks and make sure you are seeing 58psi of fuel pressure.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

No vacuum leaks, the IAC is working and will maintain 550 rpm idle once the issue is decayed.
The TB and IAC bore and blade are clean, this is still the stock 2002 fuel rail it has the regulator referenced right on the manifold, fuel pressure is good.

I will get a log from a cold start.

I fired up this engine for a data log and missed the first high idle session somehow so only have a log of a normal idle, the log is called that.
So let the engine cool off for 3 hours and restarted it for a data log again only missed the cranking up this time. This log is called high, the last data log called high2 is when the idle finally came down 2500 rpm.
Now I wonder if I am missing something in cold/warmup table? I didn't see anything in the idle table yet either

Thank you. I did not know that the MAF dtc still needed failed to run speed density even on a speed density flashed OS.
I have installed my wideband on this engine now but I don't have prolink+ cable to log AFR yet with HP tuners. I have driven this a few times now.
Last update with the tune fixed for MAF fail:
Every cold start results in a high idle above 3k rpm until the engine coolant reaches 160/170* then I can hear the IAC stop bypassing a lot of air and then idle sits right at 525-550 rpm.
I have two data logs with the engine doing this and I cannot find the cause.
I'm looking at the rpm tab under Idle:
Base rpm set points are good 800 high 535 is lowest
Idle adders cold protection, this has values in the 68-176* range. Perhaps this one needs zeroed out.
    Under startup I see:
Rpm offset, all of these have values too
    Or
Under adaptive idle the minimum coolant temp is 176* is that that one causing this?

You really need to log TPS % and Voltage and IAC counts. Also add LTIT and STIT

Logs should be several minutes long..

Thank you Alvin, I noticed myself and have updated my log PIDs since these but no drives yet.
Missed IAC counts I'll add that.
Trouble finding voltage to log under alternator, f terminal has ratio.
    Is system voltage somewhere else?

^correct I understand, I found it and added to log config.
Another log from tonight but This is the 2nd start I forgot to switch the log config on first fire up.
I cycled the ignition off a few times during the high idle and the last time the idle dropped.

    Please add IAC counts.

On that topic I encourage you to use the scanners bi directioncal controls to change the IAC from 0 to 128. 0 should make the idle go low. 128 should make idle go high.

This is a swap.. Is the VSS connected? Its actually pretty important for idle.

Fixed IAC counts, didn't know what it was called so added a lot*
No connection to VSS, I did label and keep it in the harness. Not sure what to do about that this machine has a mechanical speedometer driven off front wheel, the transaxle has nothing for a VSS sensor.
I'll learn the bidirectional controls in the VCM to command the IAC like you asked.

Took me a min to figure out the IAC steps then hit ON button with bidirectional control, happened after the engine idled normal. It did work 0 was same and 120 bumped idle rpm up it can be seen in this log.
What I seen that was odd now the the IAC counts are scanning. It starts out 310 position and stays I start cycling the ignition while its running eventually the position went down to 274 on a key cycle then 229 on the next cycle on the last key cycle the position was 140 then dropped following the desired position.
Still not a long data log but it has all the events I describe.

If you go to IAC 0 the idle should be very low. If you go to IAC 128 it should go pretty high.. Was this the case or not?

I need get another log and use the bidirectional control on the cold engine start tonight. I may not have entered 0 in the IAC in the first test definitely entered 120 not 128 but the idle did increase when I did that.
    Retest this evening

Interested in selling the 302? I have a 69 Z28 that is missing the original engine. It is LS swapped at this time. Would be nice to have the correct engine.

I adjusted IAC reset position on this tune update. It was the only thing I could find that has the IAC count at 310, I changed it to 128 and loaded this tune in tonight and have two data logs. On the first start the engine died on 2nd start the rpm was 1000 less than previous but the IAC counts still read 310.
I tried bidirectional IAC control at 0 and the engine stalled out and entering 128 raises idle a few hundred rpm. I still had to cycle the key to get the IAC counts down under 310

Wide band o2 now logging through Pro link+ after a quick setup that weas easy.
I have two trips working on the VE table but running out of time today. I have not solved the high IAC count upon cold start as of yet.

Latest tune and log attached. This is driving pretty well and it seems the SD tuning is going fast.
I'm really only working on WOT right now and it's early in tuning yet, I see the wideband fluctuate while I'm WOT and a bit of surging.
I don't think I and logging the injector duty right. I attached a .CFG file too probably wrong
