ECT/EOT Threshold (6.0 Powerstroke)

Hello all,

Just got HP Tuners set up on my 2003 6-blow and am trying to understanding what different parameters control. I'm on the cooling fan control section now. I've spent a couple hours searching and have seen this question asked multiple times with no conclusive answer: What do the ECT and EOT thresholds do?

My stock file displays these as parameters as "[ECM] 7281 - Fan ECT Threshold: " and "[ECM] 7284 - Fan EOT Threshold: " with no additional information, and allowed input values from 32 to 212 degrees F. The only mentions I've really found through searching on this forum and others across the interwebs is people asking about these parameters and others essentially guessing about what they do with varying degrees of confidence.

Is there a conclusive answer as to what behavior these parameters control?
