    Simos18.10, simos18.6

How do you identify what SIMOS version is installed in a car?

Do all 2019 Golf R vehicles run the same SIMOS globally?

    Thanks

Globally no. In the USA, it will be 8V0906259Q_0001, which is 18.10.

Are US models always SIMOS instead of MED?

I'm having that issue on a 2017 Audi A4. HPT says it should be a MED17.1.1 ECU. I ripped it out and it's a SIMOS 18.4. Somehow, HPT doesn't support SIMOS 18.4, but they do 8.4, 8.5, 18.1/18.6, and 18.10.

    I'm guessing 18.1/18.6 doesn't mean 18.1 through 18.6, but means 18.1 OR 18.6.

Yeah I believe all EA888Gen3 is simos18...might be some weird exceptions. 3B is MG1 I believe.

HPT supports 18.1, 18.6 and 18.10. 18.2 works for some box codes but I dont think its officially supported. 18.1, 2, 6 share the same "SC8" project code, while 18.10 is "SCG". 18.4 is even more different and requires a different/unique security exploit to flash to unsigned calibrations as far as I know, which likely explains why it's not supported.

I know this is an old post that I just now came across, but I think? PCMFlash might support it-- just very basic flashing, no definitions or anything of course.

The VVT is controlled by 3 things, the oil control valve, which sits behind the the cam adjuster magnet.
