Scaling a MAF (LS1) for wider range

I've uploaded two tunes. One is from the running car before the Procharger install. The other is from the supercharger vendor who modified my tune file.
You can see that he re-scaled a few things. While I trust what he did, because he's been doing this for a long time and for many LS1s, I want a better understanding of what was done.

In my understanding, the MAF is going to output a frequency in relation to airflow through the sensor, regardless of what the scaling is set for in the tune.
At some point, the MAF reaches an upper limit where the frequency doesn't go any higher.
In the original table, this is 12,000Hz = 476 g/s
    but in the re-scaled table, 12,000Hz = 214 g/s

I'm confused as to how this gives a wider range of sensing flow because the sensor is still reading the same amount of air and is going to be maxed out at some point.

There's a whole section down below for GM Gen3 topics. This is nothing to do with the editor in general.
