picking a Wideband for my son

Hey guys so my son has a 2000 C5 and I bought him a AEM 30-0334 and have read those don't really work with 2007 and prior? Could someone tell me what gauge I should get him, we're using the MPVI2. Thanks

I use that and have both. It uses the CANBus for 06-07 and up. For non CAN I have it hooked up analog with Pro feature set. Works well.

Have to add two wires to the connector. Look at page 2 of the AEM instructions.

I should probably add that the connectors can not be procured at AEM. They will not sell at any price. They are small and somewhat difficult to work with but hey what fun would that be if everything in life were easy.
    It is a Japanese connector.

The BEST option here will be to purchase the 30-0300 power harness (PN# 30-3459) that has everything pre-populated and either pull the pins you need or just use the whole 30-0300 harness.

I'm a little confused. I understand pulling the two analog wires from the wb harness connector but where do the wires go to after that?

To... something that can be logged in the HPT scanner. A/C pressure sensor if not being used, or fuel tank pressure sensor if not being used, or EGR position sensor...

Yes sir 2000 C5. So I connect the positive wire from the gauge to the 5v positive on the harness and the other one to the ground and then just log the corresponding pid in the scanner?

But one more dumb question that I already asked. Do I connect the new terminals that I pinned in the gauge connector to the directly to the pcm wires under the dash in the instrument cluster harness? Thank you sir for your help.

'C1' (the blue one) and 'C2' (the red one) are the two long, big connectors on the side of the PCM.

I know some people do this kind of stuff without factory service info/wiring diagrams/connector pinouts, but I sure don't know how they manage it. Maybe I'm the oddball. I wouldn't even attempt to poke at any of this stuff without my own access to real info that I examined closely to make sure it was matching what I had in front of me. You're either braver than me or more skilled if you're having a go at it based on just stuff you ask other people for.

I'm not even sure some people even know that the info even exists. And a lot can't do anything with it if not in video form. Pretty constant on the kit car forum I try and help on to have a post that says the car won't start, what do I do. I try and step them through systematic steps (and supply the wiring diagrams/factory diagnostic) to figure out the problem and they usually try random things that fixed someone else's no start until they get it to work.

Oh I verify everything with all data. I just need to be pointed in the right direction and usually reassured of what I'm doing.
