    Where did autoCAD install itself?

The permissions described in point 6 in the post above needs to be done on the install location, not the .msi file. Right click the C drive itself and do the permissions there. If it asks you to apply to child/sub directories also, say yes.

Are you logged in with a Microsoft account or a local account? You should log in with a local account that has full admin rights.

Are you trying to install the current VCM suite or the Beta version?

Did you read through my post in #6? Also, I mentioned somewhere a fresh install might help. You should be able to do the fresh install and save your existing programs which should only update the Windows OS. Another idea that just popped in my head is if you have any third party antivirus or anti-malware app running. Some causes problems in the past but can't remember what caused issues. For the Beta, I assume you installed the required .net runtime? Good luck and I'll try to think of some other possibilities but I have both Stable and Beta loaded on several Windows 11 Pro tablets and laptops and haven't had issues on any so I don't have any secrets just lots of years of IT experience and doing my best to remember what I or people I knew did to solve install problems.

yes. I did all of those with no change. It's only on my new laptop. my desktop and old tuning laptop have 0 issues. All 3 run the same version of windows though so I'm a little perplexed

so it?s not ideal for people who don?t have another computer but in your case you already have one that runs it fine just take a usb drive or external hard drive and copy the file from your other laptop then plug it into the one you wanna use it on and it works perfectly

    What fixed it for me:

    Windows 11
    Go to Settings/System/Optional Features
At the bottom select More Windows Features
In the popup box check the box next to .NET 3.5 (Includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
Allow it to download and install.
    Reboot
    Now install VCM as normal.

You need to open a cmd prompt as an administrator and navigate to where you have the file downloaded and run from there.
This site has a good explanation on how to do it.

Or just download this file and rename back to run_msi_as_admin.reg as had to upload as a txt file due to the forum rules and double click and add to your registry and then you can right click .msi files and run as administrator all the time
    run_msi_as_admin.reg.txt

Thought it might be the issue. Microsoft once again making things worse by claiming to make it better.
