Timing table help - LQ4 - BTR cam

I am working on finishing up my tune, but the timing table has me at a loss. I just went through 13 different LQ4 tunes on the forum and looked at all the timing tables. Most of them are nice and smooth, and then there is mine. It looks like the rocky mountains. And when I compare them side by side, its crazy how different mine is to all the others. I only looked at cammed vs boosted tunes. But damn. I know each engine is different, but I feel something is just not right.

Where would you start to clean this thing up?

Under - Spark - Base there is a "Max Speed" value. For some reason mine is set to 5 MPH, most others are set to 250. If it disables the "Main spark table" WTH is running off of?

It runs on the Idle Spark Advance "IN GEAR" when it doesnt use the High octane table.

Here is a stock 2002 LQ4 spark table if you just want something to get started with.

Thanks I will take a look at that. Now I need to go through all my old tunes and see how far back that value got changed.

I will get a current log once I can get a chance to drive it!

Unless you intend to use the spark timing as a kind of limiter to make sure it doesn't go above 0.70 cylair, it should carry out with reasonable timing through the whole table. You can taper it off from 0.70 to the bottom by like 5 degrees, but the way it is now it'll be like it gets kicked square in the balls and falls over as soon as it starts making good power.

And I think the common advice about making high & low octane tables the same is only for when you have the MAF failed in the stock OS - your custom OS still uses both tables even with the MAF failed. They should not be identical like that.

Told you it was a mess! I will start back with the stock table and go from there. I truly have no idea how it ended up where it is, but it sure is ugly.

The plan was, once it was things were timed correctly, I would pull about 3 degrees from the whole table for the low octane table. Thats what I have read is recommended.

*edit to the edit* Forget the max speed comment, found a better explanation of what it does, the description in HPTuners is misleading.

This is where mine is currently - haven't spent a ton of time on it, it could probably take more, but best power is rarely right up at the knock threshold anyway and it runs good so... eh. 10:1 5.3 stock cam, 93 octane. KR is so rare and so minor that when I see it, it's just a reminder that the sensors still work.

(Gen 4 but, you know, timing in a LS is timing in an LS...)

And thats what I was seeing with all the tunes I was looking at, I am 15-20 low in a lot of the table. That struck me as really really, odd.
I am hoping to get some drive time in this weekend, going to start with the stock table and go from there.

I truly think we started playing with the timing before we even fired it up the first time. I went back to my base tune and its not been right from step 2.

I have a lq9 .020 over, 243 heads, headers, gen 4 intake, btr stage 3 v2 truck cam. You can probably take my spark table and subtract 2* globally to get you started. I would say you could steal more than the spark table and get a good start for your setup.

Sweet thanks. Most of the tune is good to go, just the timing had me chasing my tail. Though fixing the timing may screw up the VE again....round and round and round we go.

So I finally got to load up the tune and go for a drive. Now I knew my timing was off, I didnt realize by how much. I basically copied 04silverado6.0 table. Loaded it up and went for a drive. And damn what a difference in the feel and smoothness of the drive. It wasnt a super long trip, but it was long enough to realize the how much better it is. Here are the tune and logs. Had some KR but only a couple hits. I am going to take it on some longer runs here to get more/better data. Thanks again for the help.

Interesting we have almost the same setup except I'm on po1 2002 ecu .. be nice to have flex fuel but our tunes are also pretty close as I compared mine to yours last night but I was wondering if you adjusted mbt table and y ?! Thanks
