NGC3 PCM 2004 Dodge Ram not all PIDs repoll

Truck is a 2004 dodge ram 1500. I can not read or write a tune in the truck. When I pull the PCM I can get it to read and write on a bench harness. When I go into the VCM Scanner to datalog so I can start tuning the truck does not have all PID's in the scanner. "NO BIG DEAL I will repoll them and should be fine right? "WRONG! only a few basic PIDs pull not allowing me to datalog what I need to tune VE on the truck.

When I plug the PCM back into the bench tester and run the VCM Scanner and do a repoll everything I need shows up. Obviously, I cant scan the PCM for data since it doesn't have any signal to the truck.

Has anyone had this issue before? I guess it would be truck wiring? I think this might be get messy.

when you pulled the 1st copy of the tune off the PCM , did the TCM read also ? I've ran into that situation more then once with 04-05s , I'll pull the tune from the truck, and if the TCM doesn't read , there's a lot of the PIDS that will not show up, and if you write to one of those tunes that the TCM doesn't read, it will not start when you upload the tune to the truck.

Like you said, on the Bench it'll read but in the truck it doesn't ...only solution is to re-read a few times . I had an 04 that I must read the oem tune 10-15 times before the TCM showed up.

Thanks for your response. I can not pull ECM from the truck. It will only pull the TCM. The harness is the only way I can read and write. Its odd. I did pull both TCM and ECM from on the bench but still can not get the scanner to log everything I need in the truck.

    Thanks againScreenshot 2023-05-07 163037.png

Can you disconnect the TCM, then read the ECM?

    And vice versa.

It?s an odd thing, and think it has to do with communication protocols, 04 , 4.7s a5 will do it also, but not the 4.7/m5, but I?ve never had it happen on 05 4.7 a5/m5 ram, only the 5.7 . Of all the 05 lx hemi cars I?ve been involved with, none have done it
    NGC3?s are a unique experience

The trucks have the TCM built into the PCM. The LX cars Nag1 Trans have a separate TCM Module

I read a file with just the ECM no TCM and still have the same issue. VCM scanner will not pull all PIDS. Could it be something in the wiring from the PCM to the OBD2 port in the truck? its odd to me I can pull everything on the bench but once it is in the truck I can not read or write anything to the PCM and I can not get the VCM scanner to pull everything seems. Dodge's are so strange!

After comparing the bench harness and the OBD2 in the truck I notice that the truck doesn't have as many pins in the OBD2( VERY STRANGE) I will start looking them up to see if that could be the issues,

That didn't work after looking everything up the pins are the same. The bench has 2 more pins but this is for newer PCM's that have the CANBUS. Something isn't working properly from the PCM to the OBD2. I put in a ticket and they said some other tuner may be interfering but the owner is my father and he has had the truck since new. Nothing has ever been down to the truck till now.

I keep repolling the vehicle and still have no change. This is beyond frustrating.

Update: Shared log from on the bench and in the truck to Hp tuners. They are saying that could something causing interference and not allowing the VM scanner to pull all PIDS. I should full some fuses and try. I did that and when I pull the radio fuse I cant scan as all. When I connect to the vehicle it says inference is there but no power. Check fuses. my guess is the radio fuse is tied into the OBD2 power key on somehow. It is a factory radio so do I try to run another power to the obd2?

I honestly don’t know, at this point I don’t think it would hurt, go to hemitruckclub . Com and ask those guys, there’s a few real knowledgeable people there
