    4l80e transmission temperature not correct

As the title says ,I have confirmed with external temp sensor and remote sensor in the pan ,that the gauge and scan tool read the temp about 15 to 20 deg higher than actual. Is there a way to reset the TCM and will this make a difference? Or do I need to replace the sensor in the pan?

In my older 4L80E the pan temp and the internal temp do not match exactly most of the time... Only at cold start up.
The electronic sensor is in the valvebody somewhere and my gauge temp sensor is in the pan itself.
Usually the pan temp is lower as that's the fluid coming back from the trans cooler/radiator. HTH
