Thread: stumbles on cold start

  1. #81
Im curious what it would do if you add to idle atart up airflow. What if you bump it up to like like 15-30%? and add about 8-10 revs on the startup airflow delay.

not saying this is the issue but its worth a try.

you can add startup airflow to ensure its matching your desired.

Im far from pro but never hurts to give it a go.

GM everyone - I installed tune attached - fired it up - let it warm up and then opened the throttle blade to bring iac counts down on first log.

2nd log I reset tps as well.

    Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice, that was going to be my next suggestion, but glad you got it figured out.

    Alright we're getting somewhere.

    Couple changes:
    -Idle tabs
    -VE
    -Cranking Fuel
    -LTFT enabled (Fuel>Oxygen Sensors)
    -Idle adaptive spark
    -Cranking spark

How come the speedometer isn't working? That's going to mess with idle/throttle transitions. Notice the throttle cracker thresholds in mph.

    Gm and Thank You !!

I am working on the speedo thing - I believe it’s a wiring issue.

    Attached is the update.

    -VE
    -PE
    -Spark>Advance and >Retard

VE is tuned pretty well where the O2 sensors are trimming fuel. Can't tune areas where PE is active due to lack of wideband. You should invest in one. I made PE a little richer just in case, still can't be sure.

Did you know that the base spark tables weren't being used beyond 4mph? Doesn't matter right now since the ecu thinks your speed is 0mph, but it will. Things like that cause me concern about other areas, particularly the spark advance held over from your original file. Keep an eye on the knock sensors.

Next log be sure to include startup.

    How's it running? Comments, concerns?

Gm - everything seems to be great - I will work on the speedo this coming week - after this tune is installed and logged let’s leave it there until it’s fixed - it’s still running in VE only no Maf ?

Also will get a wideband asap.

    Thank You again for everything!!!!!!!!!!

Yessir it's looking a lot better than when we started. There are a couple cells that are slightly off, but I'm not going to apply changes to the VE table. Need a good driving session to get more accurate data if that is something you want to do.

I was going to ask if you wanted to run SD or MAF/SD factory style. You said you'd like to stop here, but we can do the MAF if you want. Then later when you get a wideband we can do the full range.

Knocking down the spark a little wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Highly recommend for a rough draft just flatline the spark to get rid of the real dangerous stuff (tune 11). Don't be a size queen

Theoretically MAF shouldn't need tuned much. MAF location and intake in front of the MAF hasn't been modified. I've re-enabled it in tune 12. Note that it's not MAF/SD. It's full MAF for verification of fuel trims. If you'd like to continue then get a log of that and post it. Should be pretty quick work.

Let me know what you want to do. I'm glad I was able to help out. A lot of the hard work is out of the way now.

I am good with going MAF/SD for now. Long term I think SD for the win.

Do you want me to go ahead and install 11.hpt for now ?

I just edited my response. It'd be a good idea to check MAF side before enabling. 11 is SD. 12 is MAF fuel check.
