L5P SCANNING, not tuning

I had a breakdown yesterday in my stock '18 L5P. I figured no problem; I'd just break out VCM scanner to see what was going on. Turns out my MPVI1 does not work for scanning on the L5P.

I have no desire to tune / modify my truck. I wish I could scan and see real-time info with VCM scanner for diagnostic purposes though. Do I need to upgrade my MPVI? The supported vehicles list states that I need a modified ECM, but it does not say if that's for scanning, tuning, or both.

I searched for this topic before posting but every thread is about tuning, not scanning. TIA.

Good question because I?m not sure, but I would definitely guess the mpv1 is the problem mainly because it?s two versions behind and VCM is constantly updating . Plus with L5p, the gen V ecu is so complex it may not be compatible with mpv1. Also, suggest trying vcm suite BETA, if you?re not already .
