MPVI3 not recognized in VCM editor

I got a new MVPI3 interface and I am trying to register the device and re-sync in VCM editor. I am using a laptop with windows 10. When I have the device plugged into the laptop using the provided usb cable, I get this message when trying to re-sync. It seems like VCM editor isn't recognizing the HP tuner. What am I missing here? Does it have to be connected to a OBD port to recognize it?

Is there a resolution to this issue. I see the same thing on a new device.

I did this on Saturday and selected the MVPI2 instead and everything syncd up. I have datalogged and written one small tune to my vehicle after so I know it is working.

I have the same issue at the user above.
My new MPVI3 connects fine to my desktop and 1 laptop but not my garage computer.
I suspect it is because I plugged it into that laptop before I loaded the software and windows tried to automatically load a driver.
I've deleted the software and reinstalled.
    I've deleted drivers.
No amount of disconnecting and reconnecting makes it work.

VCM editor does not recognize that it is plugged in.
VCM Scanner sees it but will not display data.

Any hints or advice how to force it to reinitialize would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ron

You get any resolution? I have the exact same issue. I opened a ticket, but i'm pretty upset i just spent $600 and can't register my device or use it. I've reinstalled the software 3 times, tried beta, and reinstalled the driver. Nothing
