2018 8-speed T87A in a swap - can't do fast learn. Options?

2018 camaro 8-speed swap into 70 Chevelle.
Not sure on the history of parts.
Car runs and drives.
TCM is locked in throwing solenoids not programmed codes P27A7 etc and P0700.
I do have TUN.
I do have GM software access.
GM fails to program TCU with TUN. (fails)
Can't do fast learn - doesn't see brake pedal position (sees brake YES/NO, but it must be looking for the other sensor as well).

Like I said the car runs and shifts OK. I believe it's in limp mode because of the codes.
I have heard you can drive for a long time and it will relearn the solenoinds. Is that true?
Will unlocking the TCU and just turning off the codes be sufficient?
Can I just stick TCU in another car and try to program it there or do a fast learn on "wrong" transmission?

Any other options?

For future reference you can just turn off the codes after unlock.
