    MPVI1 Ecu idenfication

hello, i am new to using an mpvi1 and when you go to read a vehicle, most of the times it just brings up a drop down menu with all the ecu's listed on it and you have to select which ecu you have, then it will go ahead and read. Is there a way i can use to tell which ecu i have? Im having trouble identifying the ecu im hooked up to. I never realized there was so many until i saw that list haha, Thanks in advance guys

If it doesn't auto recognize it you would need to find a way to determine what ecm it has, either by service sticker, knowledge of the platform, etc.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

thats what im having trouble with. For example, the Chrysler 300's. I have one were working on thats an 06 i believe, most of those have the NGC4, for some reason this one has an NGC3. The only way i know this is because i took a read with the newer mpvi3 and it auto identified it. Maybe ill just have to do that from now on. Was hoping there was a source or software i could turn to or buy that would help. Thanks

if its not auto recognizing theres typically a reason
    a. custom operating system
    b. ecm corruption
    c. not a supported application
    d. os and vin information not in our database
