    bricked ecm

was flashing a 2014 f150 today with a 5.0 and it failed. afterwards the motor will not start. i had a ford ids handy and it states the pcm is unprogrammed. i tried to write entire with hp tuners but it fails everytime. is there any old tricks in the book to try and get this pcm back to life or am i stuck with using ids and a vbf file?

    Little update
It appears to fail around 40 percent and the dash gauges seem to flicker. Is this a loss of power or am I not staying in key on power? It seems like something is causing the truck to reset. Not sure if there is a relay I can hotwire temporarily to recover.

The software fails for transfer timeout

Put the battery on a charger and try again.

ok got it figured out. it sounds crazy but it worked, after i clicked "write" on write entire, i kept the key in crank for the whole 5 minutes and it took, everything is fine now..

not sure what difference that made but, hey whatever

hope this helps somebody down the road

    cheers

Sounds like the battery saver kept shutting it off, putting the key in the start position must have over rode it, and kept the power on through the rewrite.

I was thinking maybe during cranking it does not power up certain modules that may create communication issues when programming but that is a wild a** guess on my part.
