    Post 4t65hd histogram help.

Long time listener, First time caller so please correct me if i am posting in the wrong section.

2008 grand prix gxp 5.3 4t65hd. just purchased the car from the family of the owner of this one owner high mile car. runs drives good. sometimes at highway speed if i tip in to appx 25-35 percent throttle the converter will shuffle. I have already changed the tcc apply to 99 percent max and 55 min. Anything much over 55 min will cause harsh apply. I want to turn the pressure up in the trans with the pcs motor. I need help setting up a histo to see the effects of lowering the pcs motor voltage. I am assuming i want to log line pressure of the trans? I have played with several histograms and am unable to get it to populate data.
    thanks in advance

How many $3 tubes of goo would it take before it became cheaper to replace the converter? I mean, neither tune changes nor the magic goo are going to really permanently fix anything.

Do not raise pressure and TCC apply rate on that one, it is already too high from factory for what the converter can handle. What you have here is the usual issue behind those 5.3L where the lock-up piston got deformed and touched the cover. The more you drive it, the more it will load the unit with metal shavings which is like liquid sandpaper that will damage a bunch of hard parts. You need a new converter that is built with a billet lock-up piston. I don't think anyone rebuild those with OE piston anyway because they are always trash. They can handle only 120 PSI max and on those after a few years where you have crossleaks the pressure often goes up to 140 bending it past the point of no return and it is all over. They make a relief for it to prevent the pressure from going above 120, but it is a bit hit and miss. Much better to just get a converter with a piston that can handle it.

We do not rebuild converters here, you must have me mistaken for someone else.
