Exclamation SIMOS 18.2 - Finally supported?

While I know there is no official support for SIMOS 18.2, I was able to read a coworker of mines 2016 Beetle Gen 3 1.8t with SIMOS 8.2 (OS 06K906071AK_4873). HPTuners states it is 18.1/18.6 however the ECU itself states that it is 18.2 on the sticker. Would writing a tune be safe? Or should I not risk the difference in tuning definitions between the 2?

Here are some pics of the OS, ECU and Vehicle info

Here is the stock read as well.

Also, I've seen another post questioning the same thing, however that was over a year ago

Yes it should work, Ive never done one on HPT myself. Definitions are more limited from what I've seen but if it opens the virtual read file you should be good to go.

Glad to hear, I'll give it a shot tomorrow and report back with my findings. Thanks!

Curious to see how this turned out! I have a 2016 Beetle I've been considering digging into a bit

It actually turned out exceptionally well! A massive improvement over stock. It?s no different than tuning any other SIMOS18.x ecu, more so just smaller values
