    Read/Write issue

    03 K2(HD) Vin 1

    HPT 2.1.16.0

This is my first LB7 Attempt.

    Read went ok (I think)

Just gave the stock cal a glance. Noticed No TCM OS listed in the cal I just read.

Went to pogram the file I just read and received an error.

Error states, TCM present. Attempting to program with single file. Dual file needed.

I didn't screen capture and don't have the vehicle anymore so the acual error screen is not available at this time.

Not sure what to do next. I was under the impression that a read PCM would read both into 1 file. I didn't see an option to do either seperately. I downloaded an 04 hpt file from the forum just to look and It shows both PCM o/s number and TCM o/s. My file does not. I probably screwed up somewhere during the read but I am not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?

All I am trying to do at this time is a speedo recal. I have the numbers I want to use just can't seem to flash the file.

    Thanks for any input-

    John

hmmm, odd...I've never heard of this before...I would definitly contact support to see what they say.

Might want to post the file you were able to read.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    foff667,

Thanks for the reply. This is the file I just read. No errors during read.

Looks like only a PCM dump not both to me.

Re- read the vehicle. The TCM did not respond to the read the first time around.
Then this will become your new stock calibration.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I'm still learning the GUI. Didn't figure out untill later that read is disabled with a file open. After the write failed I noticed read was disabled and was a little under pressure. Momentary confusion.

    Thanks,

    John-

    Just a quick update.

Second read- Good. Shows both PCM O/S and TCM O/S

Able to edit as planned. Burned without issue (~6 minutes)

    All is well

    Thanks

I am also still having problems reading the TCM. The blame was on the fact that it had been tuned with a hand held before.

We returned the truck to full factory tune off the GM site today(EMC and TCM) and the problem is still there....only now it does not tell you when it does not read the TCM. At least before it would error out.

At least now I know I am starting with a fresh GM file...

I have had the same issues with a bone stock duramixer. No electronics and the radio, radio amp, seo ign1 fuses pulled. Still had troubles. Took about three tries to get it to read and it takes about 2 tries every time I write to it. The thing that I have I found to help is to turn the key to the on position for a long time before requesting the read or write. Like 30 full seconds insted of the usual 10 or so seconds when the chimes are done like I have been used to on the gassers for the last 3 yrs.

unfortunatly many duramax's require the reads to be done in low speed mode.

I hope so because it is a PITA when you forget to re-check the high speed box and then go to work on a LS2!

Tried about 9 times yesterday on a duramixer with no love. Seems to be hit and miss with theses things. I will try low speed, how long does that take???? It has been avg. 7-8min for me to read and write them.

You have to write in SLOW motion too?
