6.2 injectors can start showing issues anywhere from 60 to 90 k. The engine that had one stick open I think the guy said it had in the 70k range? DI injectors in general wear. It's high pressure "dry" fuel with small abrasive particles in it. All of the 6sp problems that people start seeing around 120 to 130 k are almost always because of the 5.3's injectors being worn. They start running with (-15ish%) trims throwing the torque models off causing lower line pressure resulting in less clutch hold pressure. Also why a new reman won't last more than another 30k in most instances when put back into these vehicles. This isn't your fault... I almost always ask for mileage when I tune one for this very reason and I just let them know up front if something looks off. If it's a higher mileage 5.3 for example and they're complaining about some TCC or shudder issues in general and I see negative trims then I know to increase the airmass torque model a little because they hardly ever want to install the injectors I've never seen a 5.3's stick unless it was just high rail pressure. On the plus side of things the 6.2 injectors can run some REALLY high rail pressures as long as it's not the LT4 6.2 injectors. The LT4's need to be kept around the same pressures as the 5.3's for whatever reason... SOooo, not your fault.

Finally something I wanted to read! Lol!

I want it fixed right and I'm sure my nephew wants it fixed right.

What do you suggest? The truck has roughly 125K.

The 4 injectors on the bank 1 or all 8 injectors?

I just want this truck running and gone. Lol!

    Thank you.

Rails are fine. All 8 low mileage ones should work fine. Just make sure to double check the intake manifold while it's off for any burn holes or anything like that too.

I'm goin thru options on injectors with my nephew.

Once new injectors are installed I will update this thread with the results.

    Thank you Mr. GHuggins

ahh Injectors on a 6.2. Still deal with these things daily. 5.3s will do it too. I remember when I rebuilt my L83, I actually used the 6.2 (L86) injectors, nominal flow on bank 1 and high flow on bank 2. It just wouldnt run right with all 8 being the same. New rails, lines and HPFP. I see it alot where they come into work and have a fuel trim balance code set for one bank. GM used to have us replace all injectors on a bank if one was bad. and it fixed the problems. These injectors can give you real fits! I would for sure replace all 8 and make SURE to replace the high pressure lines going from HPFP to both banks. dont reuse!

Good point... Those are 1 time use. Wonderful ethanol and all

Are you still seeing collapsed exhaust lifters causing holes to be burnt in the intake manifolds?

Not as much anymore, was big up until 2019. The newer ones just bend the pushrod and wipe out the cam. lol

    Alright here's where it's at.

My nephew knew someone that flow tests injectors. Pulled all 8 and he took them.

Before he took them I did some resistance test that was on alldata. Injectors were 0.8 to 1.1 when the left. Before I installed them I did the same test for s&$% and giggles. Injectors the came back all tested 1.2 to 1.4 so I had high hopes. I also cleaned the MAF & Throttle body. I did the throttle body clean, LTFT reset, and turned off LTFT's in the special functions tab. Plugged the b&*%# in fired it up. I attached the log. I don't know s&%$ I'm barely a "tuner". Lol. But it looks like maybe the short trims have changed? It still looks like bank 1 is on the more negative side?

If anyone gets time? Please review and post your thoughts.

    Thank you.

Still looks a whole lot better than it did. Not many companies out there can flow test hp injectors and even then the smallest difference that they say is OK is usually enough to really throw things off. Usually takes 2 cleaning visits before they flow more uniform to one another. Been there...

Today I did another log to just see what happens? I can see the short term fuel trims are different. I do think it is an injector issue. I got a buddy at a GM dealership and all they have in stock is 3. If he buys the additional 5 from other dealers I don't get a deal on those.

Would injector cleaner help get the fuel trims closer? Seafoam? I do have access to a 3 part injector cleaner we sell customer at work (drip stuff). Would that help?

If it is new injectors and GM ones are not available? Are there any aftermarket injectors that are good and are not rape cost wise?

    Thank you for the input.

My guys normally buy new ones from the local dealer or very low mileage used ones. I think the injector companies that clean them use a high pressure sonic cleaner. Usually requires a couple of visits to get right. Cleaning still won't take care of wear.

    Correct!

Cleaning and flow testing does not renew the injectors for wear and tear over 125k.

Good news tho! I got this sum a b&%#! idling kinda alright and it does restart now! It's huge for the dang thing to be restarting now!

I agree the injectors are worn and creating a bank imbalance.

I enclosed a log if you get time review it and provide input on what you see?

Also do you think this thing is at the point that a good tuner can dial it in?

    Thank for your input!

You're going to want to fix the engine oil pressure control circuit code. Most likely the pump was left unplugged? Other than that, looks a lot better.

I see how you seen the DTC's.

I didn't see that DTC code pop up and it's current. I'll see what's up with that tomorrow.

Thanks for you input Mr. ghuggins!
